You know how it is when you hear certain songs and you just immediately connect. That's the way that it was with Nils & PCH back in January of 2005. You could immediately tell this was no ordinary selection & that it was destined to become a mammoth hit !! Prior to releasing this his sophomore project, Nils was known only in a select circle, to musicians in and around the LA area that he'd played with & to a small number of avid music enthusiasts who had followed his career with great anticipation!! Showcased on Edition 358 - April 10th, 2005

So what has been the most pleasant surprise in Smooth Jazz so far this year? The advance balloting has been completed and the early odds on favourite to run away with top honours is Pacific Coast Highway from Nils!

All of this attracted the attention of producer Paul Brown, the subject of our showcase feature, who enlisted Nils' guitar work on releases from Gabriela Anders and Rick Braun. In addition to his extensive studio work ... go to the feature.

Karukas found his way into the jazz clubs and studios of the Washington, DC - Baltimore area right out of high school & while still a teen. He quickly developed into one of the more highly regarded fusion and studio players around. In 1983, he moved to LA with the desire to play with as many other artists as possible in order to expand his keyboard style. Thanks to a recommendation by Russell Ferrante (whom he'd met years earlier while still playing on his home circuit), Karukas was soon performing with the likes of Patti Austin, Richard Elliot, Grant Geissman, & others. Following a 1-1/2 year stint backing Melissa Manchester, he started his own group. Dave Koz, Gary Meek and Boney James, were among the first young undiscovered sax talents to join his band. Gregg released his ... check the feature.
