Check our write-up under George Shelby for this week's cd giveaway. |
| Showcase CD Midnight Morning - Greg Adams Adams was a founding member of Tower of Power, and the man behind the groundbreaking sound and style of the famous ensemble. After 25 years with the band and countless sessions with many of the biggest names in music, Greg decided to set out on his own. In 1995, he released Hidden Agenda, his debut, which enjoyed the #1 spot on the smooth jazz charts for over 5 weeks. Midnight Morning is Greg’s new one. The cd is packed with Adams signature blend of funk, jazz, and R&B and response to this latest offering has been enthusiastic to say the least. GregAdamsMusic.com |

First
Kiss - George Shelby In addition to many feature commercials, Shelby’s credits include sessions with Garden Party and The Brian Setzer Orchestra. As well, George has played and performed with a long list of today’s top SJ artists. Recently he gigged with Brian Culbertson on his US tour, and with Bobby Caldwell in Japan and the Philippines. In spite of this busy schedule, Shelby recently launched his solo career with the release of Touch, his fine debut album. And a very nice cd it is, as Shelby artfully embraces the key elements of melody and groove throughout the disc. From that effort we have a sensitive and moody piece just for you. ***CD Giveaway: Now listen up. I’m pleased to announce that we have a copy of Touch to giveaway. Ju-Ju
- Fourplay The quartet of veteran musicians continues to break new ground with the release of Heartfelt, their latest and third since Larry Carlton filled the guitar chair vacated by Lee Ritenour. Hot on the heels of Rollin’, their big hit which went to the top of the SJ charts, the group has just issued Ju-Ju, also from Heartfelt, as the follow up single. Hey this is a great blues tinged tune featuring the aforementioned Mr. Carlton on electric guitar in a pleasing interplay with Bob James on keyboards. FourplayJazz.com |

Romantica
- David Lanz Combining many of the best elements of pop and contemporary music, Lanz has for the past 20 years or so been one of the most popular artists in instrumental music. Finding Paradise is his latest and from it we have Romantica, the third release from that cd. This track and a handful of others were co-produced by Dave Koz and Gregg Karukas and as well each appears on the selection. Rounding out the all-star line-up is Marc Antoine on guitar and Will Kennedy, formerly of the Yellowjackets, on drums. DavidLanz.com |

Bridge
the Gap - Les Sabler Oh you know that I love the feel & groove of this one. For this, his third solo release, Les teams up with fellow Floridian, Allon Sams, who performed on co-wrote, & co-produced many of the tracks. Shortly after we debuted Reasons, the lead single from Bridge the Gap, a few weeks ago here on FT, I had a chance to speak with Les. Sabler promised, I would love the rest of the cd, and how right he was! The music is characterised by well-crafted melodies, out-standing musicianship and comes recommended as essential SJ listening. In fact it’s a CJ pick of the week and without doubt we’ll be showcasing this one in the very near future. ***Cafe Jazz Pick of the Week*** LesSabler.com |
